Scientific Investigations Report 2005-5028
USGS Training Class SW1409

Welcome to the web-based training class "Stage-Discharge Relations--Basic Concepts." This class is designed to be taken at your own pace. We hope it will provide you with a basic understanding of techniques the U.S. Geological Survey uses to develop relations between stream stage and water discharge. We also hope you find the information included as linked material useful as general references. Water Supply Paper 2175 "Measurement and Computation of Streamflow" and Techniques in Water Resources Investigations Report Book 3, Chapter A10 "Discharge Ratings at Gaging Stations" should serve as your primary sources for additional information. Links to complete copies of both reports can be found on the "References" page.
