Class Presentations

Class presentations may take some time to load. A progress bar should appear as the presentations load (see below).

Presentations will appear after about 50% of the file has loaded onto your computer. This will allow you to begin working on the presentation without waiting for the entire file to load. This situation might cause problems if you try to quickly navigate toward the end of a given presentation. If you experience problems viewing the latter portions of any presentation you should wait until the entire file has loaded.

The figure shown below is an example of what the Flash(1)-based presentations look like. You should use the buttons in the lower part of the screen to navigate through the presentation. Notes that describe what you should learn from each frame are shown when you click the "View Notes" button. This button can be used to toggle the notes on and off the screen. The notes are also available as spoken narrations. The notes are also available as spoken narrations. These narrations can be toggled "on" and "off" by pressing the narration button (see below). You will have to have speakers attached to your computer to take advantage of the spoken narrations. Training class modules all start with the narrations turned "OFF".

Class Exercises

The class contains thirteen exercises. Exercises are contained in Adobe PDF files and will have be printed. The browser you are using must, therefore, have access to the Adobe PDF reader. While taking the class you will need a calculator, straight edge, and a draftsman's curve to complete some exercises. You should submit completed exercises either to your supervisor or the course coordinator for them to be checked. The figure below shows an example of what exercises are like:

Exercise Example

Test

A test is provided for the class. A link is provided to the test under the class agenda. The test should be considered mandatory. The test can be automatically graded and results can be shown to your supervisor. You will receive credit for Training Class SW1409 from your supervisor after the test has been taken and the class exercises have been worked satisfactorily. We hope you take advantage of the opportunity to discuss test results with your supervisor.

Test questions are all multiple choice. Answers can be selected using the radio buttons beside each question. Your answers are recorded when you click on the "Submit" button. You will receive instant feedback on your answer.

Test Results

You check the answers yourself. A screen like the one shown below will appear after you submit your final answer. You will be given the opportunity to review your answers to all questions when you elect to "Review Quiz".

Test Results

Choosing the "Next" botton on screens like the one above will display another screen that will tell you if you passed the test. You will see a screen like the one shown below if you passed the test. You should print this page to demonstrate your competence on this part of the class to your supervisor.

Test Completion

You will see a screen like the one below if you do not pass the test. You can then choose to retake the test, or review the class material by closing the test window and returning to the class.
