Working with Joe Rousseau, Brennon Orr, and Linda Davis, and previously with Larry Mann and John Pittman, we have monitored field conditions in the USGS test trench area adjacent to the Subsurface Disposal Area of the Radioactive Waste Management Complex. We maintained remote data-acquisition operations and compiled a database of micrometeorological and soil-moisture conditions at the INL site. Results are published in a series of USGS Open-file Reports, the most recent of which are Perkins and others (1998) and Perkins (2000). This information is useful for assessing unsaturated-zone moisture conditions and for developing and testing models of subsurface water balance.
