PROJECT STAFF

James Kuwabara received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Hawaii in 1975, followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering Science from California Institute of Technology in 1976 and 1980, respectively. He joined the USGS as a National Research Council Post-Doctoral Associate in 1980, and has served as project chief for the National Research Program (NRP) within the Water Resources Division since 1986. Jim also is an Associated Editor for Water Resources Research.

Brent Topping received his B.S. in Physics with specialization in Earth Science from U.S. San Diego in 1993. While finishing his degree, he worked at Scripps Institute of Oceanography, providing analytical support. He started at the USGS and joined this project in 1994. He serves as the analytical chemist, specializing in trace metal and dissolved-organic-cargon analysis. He also trains and supports other projects in these areas. Cyndi Azevedo received her Associate of Arts Degree in English Communication from Chabot College in Hayward, California. She began her Federal career in Administrative/Secretarial positions in October 1986 with the U.S. Department of Labor, and joined the USGS in December, 1999. She is the secretary for this and three other projects, and she provides assistance to the Administrative Unit in the National Research Project in Menlo Park, California.
